With prices soaring, it has become a highly sought after commodity and its wealth defining properties have been mirrored in this summer’s catwalk fashions.

Jackets and dresses are embellished with gold sequins and tailoring, jewellery is unabashedly statement based and even your shoes are getting in on the act.

It all adds up to a bit of everyday glitz and glam. Who can resist that?
