Right at the Heart of Christmas

Guaranteed to get you in the festive mood, a visit to Santa’s Grotto will see you transported onto Santa’s very own sleigh, complete with reindeer and more than a sprinkling of fairy dust!

Opening on Sunday 21st November at 11am as part of the Christmas Light Switch On, visits to Santa on that first Sunday will be completely FREE and include a small gift.

Thereafter, the grotto will open every Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 12noon—5pm, and daily in the final week before Christmas to ensure all the boys and girls get a good chance to see him, receive a gift and even get their picture taken with him. Why not beat the queues and book your visit to Santa online at www.stjshopping.co.uk

Winter Cuties

Christmas is the perfect time for kids. Filled to the brim with toys, films, games and chocolate, St John’s Shopping Centre really has something for everyone.

We’ve rushed around the shops to find this season’s must haves—and it needn’t break the bank either: pop into Poundland to rifle through their amazing range of toys for just £1.

Both HMV and GAME have all the latest consoles and games. If you prefer a more traditional present, look no further than Waterstones for some fantastic children’s books.

For great stocking fillers, you will not go wrong with a visit to Candy Express for sweeties galore, the Jelly Belly range and all sorts of yummy treats.

Read Up!

Winter is the perfect time to curl up at home with a book and a cup of tea (and maybe even a biscuit!). Waterstones in St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth, have picked four books which they expect to be this winter’s top reads for book lovers young and old.

Kitchen by Nigella Lawson
£26
In Kitchen, Nigella offers the reader a mouth watering array of new recipes, both comforting and exciting - from clams with chorizo to Guinness gingerbread.

Reminding the reader how much pleasure there is to be had in real food, and how to reclaim the traditional rhythms of the kitchen, this book is about simple recipes that make life less complicated.

From ham hocks to pea soup and pasties, from chicken to Chinatown salad, Nigella gives us the wherewithal to tackle any situation and satisfy all our foodie cravings.

Aliens Love Panta Claus
by C Freedman & B Cort £5.99

Everyone's favourite aliens are full of the festive spirit! Join them as they help out Santa and put neon pants on Rudolph. But remember to hold on to your pants - this is for one day only. Ho-ho-ho!

The Fry Chronicles: A Memoir
by Stephen Fry £20

This dazzling memoir is a courageously frank, honest and poignant read. His writing will excite you, make you laugh uproariously, move you, inform you and, above all, surprise you.

Peppa’s Super Noisy Sound Book
by Peppa Pig £12.99

Oink! Oink! Grunt! Grunt! Find out what happens when Peppa and George's quiet day turns very noisy and press the sounds as you read along! A wonderful Christmas present for little ones! Snort! Snort!

Night In

We love snuggling up with a winter blockbuster, with our Christmas selection boxes and chilling out. This is the season for movies and music, so stock up your CD and DVD racks with the latest entertainment to take you through the cold winter nights. Whatever it may be, no-one gets you closer to the stuff you love this winter than HMV in St John’s Shopping Centre, Perth.

A Christmas Carol
Disney's A Christmas Carol is a multi-sensory thrill ride which captures the fantastical essence of the classic Dickens tale. Ebenezer Scrooge (Jim Carrey) begins Christmas with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk (Gary Oldman) and his cheery nephew (Colin Firth).

But when the ghosts of Christmas past, present and yet to come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late.
